If you’re blogging regularly what’s going to happen, well you’ll get more traffic and that’s great but what’s worse is a bench going to run out of topics right on, not sure?


 On what to blog on, and just getting lost must can do two things.

Go to Buzzsumo.com and put in a keyword any search within your industry let’s say you put in marketing or online marketing that will show you all the popular posts within your space. They even break them down based on the last six months or a year. That way you’re seeing fresh content that people love and they sort of based on social shares. The ones that have the most social shares are the ones that people love the most that are how you can get more ideas.


Your blog just looks at what’s working and write better versions of those posts as someone broke down ten ways to get more traffic, you can then write 101 ways to get more traffic. Someone wrote how to get rid of fleas on your dog, you can write an article on how to get rid of fleas on your dog, and cat, or parrot, or what other animals have fleas right just writing more detailed content is a great way to keep going and crank out new information that people still love because if it’s done well.

Someone else’s site chances are it’ll do well on your site as well as long as you’re in the same industry.

Go to Quora and type in any keyword within your space you’ll see a list of questions that people have the most popular ones are common questions. If you take those questions and write blog posts around them and you create real educational information with keywords.

Answers that question but answers it better than anyone else you’re going to have a ton of content so much so you’re going to have a lot of ideas that you won’t have writer’s block again and if you use it.

Quora look at all the people who responded to that question and you can even take your blog post copy and paste it and respond to it as well. I do that all the time and I generate hundreds and thousands of views on my quarrel profile because of that I’m not writing unique content just for Quora I’m taking my blog content and repurposing it on Quora.keywords

So not only did I give you two ways to avoid writer’s block they also taught you how to generate more traffic from Quora.

There’s kind of different strategies depending on what type of person you are what your personality is like, and also just your life experiences.

Because I believe that courses can come just from personal life experiences they don’t have to be this like how do you know I’m in teacher mode and I am teaching you as a guru as it can just be like.

Hey I overcame this struggle in my life and I can guide you through that struggle too, so it can be pretty casual and so we’ll talk about the five strategies to finding your profitable course idea.

But before we do that I wanted to just sort of lay like the groundwork for everything we’re going to be talking about, before you get into those five strategies just sort of giving you the three basic points of what makes content successful.

Before we get into finding your specific idea the first thing is just that you need to target a tiny and specific audience with your niche. so you need to create your post with a really specific person in mind a really specific demographic a lot of people call it like their avatar, their ideal, customer, their ideal client, and it sounds a little silly but you do want to kind of write like I always write an exercise like who is this person is.

Usually we’re all like who is this girl how does she feel we’re her favorite books, or her favorite TV shows, like what is she what kind of websites did, she look at what are her favorite blogs like who is a sort of ideal person that we’re speaking to if you try to target everyone your content must unique and appealing to no one because you’re being too broad and vague and no one will connect with you or be able to resonate with your promotion.

Or Your marketing, or your course, topic, because it’s too big so you’re better off mediating specific gently I love that one line like you think your customers everyone or if you’re promoted you’re picturing everyone it’s going to actually be no one and I think that is so true and anyone who’s tempted to have a course.

Before has probably experienced some of that as well right because you’re afraid of like shutting people out, who’d already bought like people are like oh I don’t want to turn away customers, and I’m like do like customers you don’t have yet because you are too big.

Don’t talk to me that you’re turning away potential customers.

The second point before we get started is just that you want to provide specific results right so nobody buys a course that’s promising like more happiness or greater success in life or I’ll teach you how to have more fun or follow your passion because that looks different for everyone.

So if I read your course description or I found your sales page and it was like promising. This really big broad thing that I can’t describe in real tangible words I’m just not going to be interested because I can’t see myself experiencing it but that’s not to say that you can’t have a spiritual course right or a course that teaches mindset or something that isn’t real and tangible it doesn’t have to be a number but it does have to be specific results right.

If you’re like I’ll teach you how to you know relax more through meditation that’s still a great course idea because, specifically, it’s not just like feel happier in your life I can’t tell you how many people tell me that their course idea is to like show women how to have a happier life and I’m just like seriously you need to go back to the drawing board so don’t be that person sorry if that was your course idea to burst your bubble but like go and make it real.

The third thing that makes post content successful before you get into the five strategies is that it has to address like pain or a problem that people have and offer the solution so you know a lot of times.

People focus on like I just said have a happier life have success well what is that really like what do I you know get everything you want out of your relationship what do you want I don’t know.

I feel like a lot of people have a harder time identifying what they want their life to look like, or what their ideal day is or what their ideal situation is.

They have a harder time identifying that desire than they go saying I am in pain and I just want to fix it like I’m fat and I just don’t be fat anymore or like I am stressed and I just don’t want to be stressed anymore, or I am frustrated by this thing and I just don’t want to feel that anymore.

So people are a lot better at identifying like pain or frustration and wanting to solve it then they are at identifying like oh yeah I want my life should look like this.

That’s what I’m going to go and pursue it’s like they just want to fix the things that are bothering them at the moment, and they want to be told how to fix them which is why a lot of times they may not know the solution they need someone to enlighten them and take them on the journey to figuring out the solution.

Starting with that pain or problem is key exactly and the other thing is just like I said this has to be specific, so I have a couple of examples of specifically how you can take a broad course idea and make it more specific in different industries, so, for example, a lot of people say I want to create a course about how to do social media for business and like okay social media is no specific enough, so then they take it a little bit further, and they’re like okay social media for online business owners and like okay what kind of online business owners.

The next stage would be like really narrowing it down to like social media for online yoga instructors and it would be like oh my god every yoga instructor that sees that course is going to be like holy crap that’s for me like I know it’s going to teach me what to post and how to get clients and how to get people signed up for my freebies as a yoga instructor.

Whatever same thing with like photography you could say like I’m going to teach photography okay that’s way too broad okay I’m gonna teach photography for bloggers.

That’s still too broad okay iPhone photography for style bloggers okay now we’re getting somewhere that is specific enough that you create a course about that and it solves a specific problem I don’t have a DSLR camera I only have an iPhone I don’t have a budget I’m a style blogger I don’t want to like if you teach all bloggers.

I see a bunch of food pictures on your sales page gonna be like that’s not for me I’m a fashion blogger right anyway enough of the rant but just want to kind of lay the groundwork of like those are the base things that you need to understand about creating a successful course.

I have a great question from Lee who asks this year I’m focusing on visibility and in general telling my story. I’m running into some blocks though in that I simply don’t feel like my story is worth telling without getting all long-winded.

I grew up in a very happy home parents who taught me I could be anything and do anything I ever dreamed of doing and that’s essentially what I’ve done there’s no adversity there’s no pivotal turning moment there’s no rock-bottom nothing that I feel others can relate to and say oh my god he really gets me.

How can I share my story in a way that’s compelling and true that is a great question Lee and if you two are wondering how to find your story and tell it compellingly so that it attracts your tribe then this episode is for you.

So how are you going to find your story let’s talk about entrepreneurs whose stories we often hear right so let’s take Elan musk for example now his story is of a turbulent childhood in South Africa and then how he formed all of his companies.

How he developed an electric model car that’s Parfum Estanza to send the first people to Mars and so his story is very compelling it’s very diverse it has lots of ebbs and flows and high points and low points let’s.

Look at another famous entrepreneur Steve Jobs so of course, he started with migrant parents from Syria, and how he got fired from his own company how he started Apple got fired.

How he can come back to Apple so there again like a lot of pivots and turns and ups and downs in his story.

All right so let’s look at some online entrepreneurs, for example, Lewis Howes and in this Forbes article talks about how he went from sleeping on his sister’s couch running a six and seven-figure business.

You know it’s a story about triumphs it’s a story about hardships it’s a story about struggle and so there are lots of opposing points in that story which makes it very compelling or let’s take the story of Sophia Amoruso who is the founder of Nasty Gal and how she started with very very difficult circumstances in her childhood.

How she built up her business from eBay and now it’s a multi-million dollar business and she’s on the list of you know successful super-rich wealthy entrepreneurs.

So if you look at all of these stories what they have in common is that

They all have struggled,
They all have hardships,
They all have poverty,
They all have riches,
They all have strength,
They all have persistence,
They all have all of these common factors that are very compelling human emotions that talk about how you go from difficult circumstances to finally be a successful entrepreneur.
What your question what if I don’t have that same struggle what if my story just doesn’t have those herbs and flows those highs and lows then how do I come across how do I be relatable what story should I be telling and do I even have a story that’s worth telling.

Well here’s the good news and not even good great news the great news is you do have a story your struggle the thing that you have described right now Lea is your story that is a struggle that not just you but a lot of people.

Face your struggle right now is that you think you are boring that you’re uninteresting and why should anyone pay attention to boring old me that is a very compelling starting point.

Guess what not just you but millions of people feel this same way what makes me so amazing what makes me interesting that is something that’s called in psychology as a limiting belief right a limiting belief is something that holds you back and in this case you’re a limiting belief is a feeling that you’re not good enough this maybe you’re not worthy of this attention and so when you limit yourself.

That way then you don’t know how to ask for that attention in a way that is attractive so John Bates runs a program for aspiring Ted and TEDx speakers and one of his concepts is to help people discover their story by finding their superhero origins and yeah by a superhero.
